In the first six months of 2025, the IAS implemented and managed 32 scientific and technological tasks with a total budget of VND 26,084 billion (VND 4,249 billion higher than in 2024).

There were 3 articles published in specialized journals including one in a foreign journal and two in domestic journals.

Breeding: Nine crop varieties were approved and announced for circulation. There are one Phu Quoc pepper variety approved with special permission; four cassava varieties self-announced for circulation viz KM94, HL-RS15, HN29 and VN19-773; 02 potato varieties viz KT15-1; KT15-2; 01 chrysanthemum variety viz Cúc vu DL1; 01 carrot variety viz CR21.36.

There are 42 Phu Quoc pepper parent lines were approved with  their pepper parent nursery of 0.4 ha.

Germplasm conservation: the IAS has preserved 400 rice accessions both traditional and improved genotypes; 50 maize accessions; 394 cassava accessions including 80 mosaic-resistant cassava genotypes from CIAT introduction; 200 cashew accessions; 80 sweet potatoe accessions; 300 soybean accessions; 10 mushroom accessions both edible and medicinal genotypes; 52 mungbean accessions; 39 peanut accessions and 35 sesame accessions.

Cultivation practice protocols: (1) The suitable carrot spacing (50 cm) and potassium (K2O)  fertilizer application for carrot seed production (240 kg/ha); (2) The carrot appropriate pruning is determined for seed production.

Technology transfer demonstrations: (1) 6-hectare demonstration of carrot variety CR21.36 at 3 locations (Lam Dong, Dak Lak and Gia Lai) offered higher productivity (10.5% - 13.4% as compared to farmer practices); (2) 10-hectare organic rice farming demonstration (Spring-Summer season) in Phan Lam commune, Lam Dong province; (3) 200-hectare demonstration of high-quality rice production reduced GHG emissions to achieve high productivity (≥ 6.2 tons/ha), reducing input costs (at least 15%) and increasing economic efficiency (≥ 15%) as compared to farmer practices; (4) 300-hectare demonstration of mechanized straw collection service to serve the development of straw by-products in three provinces (Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Tien Giang) addressed theollection capacity ≥ 50 rolls/hour, average weight of straw roll ≥ 17kg; with 1,200 tons totally; (5) a pilot of mushroom production from rice straw (67 participated households) in 03 provinces (Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Tien Giang) with 30 tons totally; (6) a pilot of organic fertilizer production by rice straw (100 participated households) in three provinces (Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Tien Giang) with 710 tons totally; (7) a model of feed production for large livestock by rice straw (35 participated households) in three provinces (Dong Thap, Hau Giang, Tien Giang) with the total raw straw of 15 tons; (8) a producing of 512,000 potato seedlings, 19,150 in vitro strawberry seedlings, 17,000 in vitro chrysanthemum seedlings and 437,000 in vitro sweet potato seedlings in Lam Dong; (9) a providing more than 4 million cuttings equivalent to 330 hectares for cassava farming in Tay Ninh, Dong Nai, Binh Thuan, Vung Tau, Gia Lai, Dak Lak with seedling genotypes resistant to mosaic disease viz HN1, 13SA05, BK, STB1 and HL-RS1; (10) a production of 100 thousand grafted cashew seedlings.

International Cooperation: The IAS has implemented two international cooperation projects with a total budget of VND 0.950 billion dealing with cassava and soybean breeding. The IAS was welcoming international guests to visit and to launch further coolerations. There were eight delegations of entrepreneurs and research institutes from Korea, Belgium and China, especifically the Institute of Tropical Plant Genetic Resources under the Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences (CATAS), the Belgian CARAH Center, Hyunnong Korea Company, and SnE Korea Group.

Training Workshops: (1) The IAS coordinated with the Vietnam Pathology Association to organize the 24th Vietnam National Plant Disease Conference in at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences for Southern Vietnam; (2) The IAS organized 20 training courses to introduce new carrot genotypes and intensive farming pratices, mushroom technology; organic composting techniques; animal feed stuff; high-quality rice production less GHG emission.

Post-Graduation: The IAS is managing 4 PhD scholars, including 3 in Crop Science and 1 in Soil Science.
